1. Who we are
LLM Search Inspector is a Chrome extension published by Mentrup Group LLC ("we", "us"), a California limited liability company.

2. What the extension does
LLM Search Inspector displays, in a local browser side panel, the web-search queries and cited sources that AI chat assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity) generate during your own conversations. It reads only responses your browser already received while you were using those sites yourself. It does not initiate searches, act on any account, or open any conversation you did not open.
3. What we collect
Nothing reaches us, because there is nothing for it to reach. The extension operates no server, uses no analytics or telemetry, and loads no remote code. Every line of code that runs ships inside the extension package.
What the extension captures, locally on your device only:
- The web-search queries an assistant generated while responding to you.
- The source links the assistant cited in its responses.
- Optionally, the text of your own prompt that triggered the search. A setting lets you turn this off.
4. Data transmission
Zero. The extension makes no network requests of its own. It does not send data to us, to an analytics platform, to an advertising network, or anywhere else. The only network traffic involved is the traffic your browser was already generating by using ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Perplexity.
5. Data storage
- chrome.storage.local: captured queries, cited sources, and (if enabled) prompt text live in your browser's local storage on your device. This data is never synced to any account or server.
- chrome.storage.sync: extension settings (toggles only, never captured data) use Chrome's own built-in sync so your preferences follow you between your signed-in Chrome browsers, exactly as bookmarks do. Chrome and Google infrastructure handle this, not us. We have no server to receive anything.
6. Your controls
- The side panel includes a control to clear all stored history immediately, at any time.
- A setting prevents your own prompt text from being stored at all.
- Uninstalling the extension deletes everything it stored, following Chrome's standard extension removal behavior.
7. Third-party services
The extension does not integrate with, call, or send data to any third-party service, API, or SDK. It does not use OpenAI's, Anthropic's, Google's, or Perplexity's APIs. It reads what your browser already received while those companies' own web interfaces were open in your tabs.
8. Permissions
The extension requests host permissions limited to chatgpt.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com, and www.perplexity.ai so it can observe the search-related responses those pages already load, plus the storage and sidePanel permissions needed to save history locally and display the panel. No permission is used to transmit data externally.
9. Children
The extension does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since nothing is transmitted to us in the first place, no personal information about anyone reaches us.
To be clear about the two ages you may see in our policies: 13 is the threshold set by the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), which is the line stated here. 16 is our own stricter policy for the insiderhub.co website, set out in its privacy policy. Neither the extension nor the site is aimed at children.
10. Limited Use
Our use of information received from Google APIs, and of any user data the extension handles, follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
- We do not sell, rent, or transfer user data to third parties. There is nothing to sell: the extension operates no server and transmits nothing off your device.
- User data is not used or transferred for any purpose unrelated to the extension's single purpose, which is showing you the web searches and cited sources an AI assistant generated in your own conversation.
- User data is not used or transferred to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
- User data is not used or transferred for personalized advertising, advertising measurement, or building advertising profiles. The extension contains no advertising code and no analytics.
- No humans read your data. It never leaves your device, so there is nothing for anyone at our company to read.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date, and material changes will be reflected in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
